U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump said he supports TikTok despite the possibility that Chinese-owned ByteDance could be banned if it does not divest its U.S. assets. “We need competition, because without TikTok, we’re left with only Facebook and Instagram,” Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek. Trump previously viewed TikTok as a threatening app, but recently appeared to have joined TikTok. Recently, Trump was hit by gunfire at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, causing his ear to bleed. He later posted on his social media, "I knew immediately something was wrong. I heard a buzzing sound and a gunshot, and immediately felt the bullet tearing my skin." Photos of him clenching his fists and raising them towards supporters who came to the campaign site despite his bleeding injuries continue to spread on social media.
