Microsoft blamed Delta Air Lines for a global cyber outage that led to the cancellation of more than 6,000 flights and struggled to recover for several days. The disruption left hundreds of thousands of travelers stranded and is estimated to have cost Delta Air Lines approximately $500 million. "Microsoft and CrowdStrike failed to provide excellent service," Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC. "Microsoft’s platform is the weakest," he said. Microsoft is investigating why other airlines restored operations much faster than Delta and counters that Delta has not modernized its IT infrastructure. Microsoft called Delta's comments "incomplete, false, and misleading" and said Delta had rejected an offer from its employees to help.
