Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that Grok, the generative artificial intelligence (AI) developed by his company xAI, will be open-sourced. "This week, xAI will open source Grok," Musk wrote on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Grok is a generative AI built by xAI, the AI startup Musk founded in July of last year, and is powered by X. It's the first AI to be open-sourced. Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI to open source ChatGPT has led to speculation that he is trying to win the public relations battle. However, some legal experts said Musk faces an uphill legal battle. "It will be difficult to prove that OpenAI abandoned its original mission because it licensed GPT-4 and kept some elements proprietary," said Seth Kugler, an attorney at Grellas Shah LLP.

Grellas Shah LLP의 변호사 세스 쿠글러(Seth Kugler)는 "OpenAI가 GPT-4 라이선스를 허가하고 일부 요소를 독점 상태로 유지했기 때문에 OpenAI가 원래 사명을 포기했다는 것을 증명하기 어려울 것"이라고 말했다.
