U.S. authorities have shut down nearly 1,000 AI-powered Russian robot accounts on X (formerly Twitter) spreading disinformation and pro-Russian tendencies. The accounts were made possible by software created by RT's digital media department and supported by Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). The FBI and its allies said they used a tool called 'Meliorator' to create a large number of fake social media accounts and spread disinformation. Authorities seized two domains used to create email addresses, and X suspended verified accounts. The Justice Department says hundreds of robot accounts violate U.S. law and is tracking additional accounts.
