Collaboration software maker Smartsheet is set to be acquired by Blackstone and Vista Equity Partners in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $8.4 billion. Shareholders will receive $56.50 per share, representing a 41% premium over Smartsheet's average closing price for the past three months. Smartsheet has been gauging interest from potential acquirers for several months and has been competing with other software companies like Atlassian since its IPO in 2018. If no other offers emerge, the transaction is expected to close by January 2025, subject to shareholder approval.
