Apple is giving up a popular feature to enter the US market. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 will no longer have the ability to measure blood oxygen, which had been banned from importation into the U.S. due to a patent dispute between the company and medical device maker Masimo. While Apple has yet to make an official announcement, Bloomberg and 9to5Mac reported that the blood oximetry feature has been removed and that the U.S. Border Protection has approved the sale of the modified products. This could pave the way for a possible re-entry into the U.S. market after last year's ban. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 were banned from the U.S. late last year due to a patent dispute with Masimo. The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that the devices' blood oxygen sensors infringed on Masimo's patents.
