Intel is expected to receive $3.5 billion in investment as part of the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act. The CHIPS and Science Act is a bill to foster a semiconductor ecosystem to strengthen the U.S. technological advantage over China in the semiconductor industry, with the goal of investing $280 billion (about KRW 366 trillion) in the semiconductor and science industries. Intel has been a favorite to win the $3 billion to $4 billion grant since November last year, and the chipmaker's chances of winning the deal have been increasing. According to Bloomberg, the $3.5 billion will be spread out over the next three years, and with the House vote, Intel will become the top producer of high-performance chips for the U.S. defense market.
