Video conferencing platform Zoom has significantly expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company aims to improve productivity and streamline communication through an upgrade centered around AI Companion 2.0. With this upgrade, Zoom's AI features have been extended across the platform, including team chat, email, Zoom Docs, and meetings. Users can now synthesize information from various sources, such as Microsoft Outlook or Google services, using AI. Smita Hashim, Zoom's chief product officer, stated that AI Companion is provided at no additional cost and has already been activated on more than 4 million accounts. She emphasized that 57% of Fortune 500 companies are currently using it. The company announced that it does not use customer conversation data for training AI models to protect data privacy. They also explained that they are optimizing performance by utilizing various AI models, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Llama.
