Techstars, a global seed accelerator, is cutting 17% of its workforce, and J.P. Morgan announced that its $80 million AdvancingCities program will end at the end of this year. The program, which began in 2022, launched accelerator programs in several cities to support diverse startups. J.P. Morgan had planned to provide funding until the end of the program but decided not to continue due to worsening relations. Techstars stated that there would be no impact on accelerator operations other than the J.P. Morgan program. Techstars recently replaced its CEO and reduced its workforce by 7% in January, with further reductions now taking place. CEO David Cohen attributed the cuts to excessive hiring and growth, explaining that "the majority of the cuts will be in engineering, support services, sales, and partnerships."
