호주, 잇단 정보 유출 사고로 개인정보보호법 대폭 강화

Australia's attorney-general has announced a major privacy law change. The move follows a spate of data breaches in recent weeks, such as the Optus telco breach last month. The changes will be made via an amendment to the country’s privacy laws, following a long process of consultation on reforms. Penalties for serious or repeated privacy breaches will be increased from AUS $2.22 million to AUS $50 million.
