It was found that 14%, or 8.8 million, of PCs shipped worldwide during the second quarter of 2024 were equipped with AI functions. PCs with AI capabilities are defined as desktops and laptops that include chipsets or blocks for dedicated AI tasks, and these shipments accounted for 14% of total PC shipments in the second quarter. “This quarter marked a significant turning point in the expansion of AI-enabled PCs,” said Ishan Dutt, principal analyst at Canalys. Dutt added, “Shipments of PCs equipped with AI capabilities are expected to increase further in the second half of 2024, and we plan to target a wider customer base with the launch of new products in various price ranges.” According to Canalys' forecast, shipments of PCs equipped with AI functions are expected to reach approximately 44 million units in 2024 and 103 million units in 2025.
