U.K. antitrust regulators have won a victory in an antitrust investigation into Apple's mobile browser and cloud gaming services. The Court of Appeal in London overturned a first-instance ruling and said the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has the legal authority to investigate Apple's market share in these services, Reuters reported on Tuesday. The CMA launched a sweeping investigation into Apple and Alphabet's (Google) mobile browser monopoly last year, which Apple challenged in the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), the first instance of an antitrust case. Apple argued that the CMA's delayed investigation was beyond its authority, as it should have opened the investigation at the same time as the CMA issued its report on Apple and Google's monopolies. As a result, the CMA is now able to investigate Apple's monopolization.
