He recently shared his memories of that time through X (formerly Twitter), recalling a time when AMD recognized an opportunity in the GPU market but initially missed it. Mohapatra, referring to the negotiations between AMD and Nvidia to merge into one company, said that Jensen Huang had a long-term strategy to lock Nvidia's GPUs into the proprietary, closed-source CUDA model. Not wanting to give up on that strategy, Huang said he refused to sell Nvidia unless he became CEO of the combined company.
