Primate Labs, the developers of Geekbench, have launched Geekbench AI, a benchmark tool designed to measure the performance of Neural Processing Units (NPUs) in various devices. The tool, previously known as Geekbench ML, has been upgraded to version 1.0 and renamed to capitalize on the growing interest in AI technology. Geekbench AI tests inference performance across different precision levels and attempts to measure both speed and accuracy of AI workloads. The benchmark supports multiple AI frameworks and can run workloads on CPUs, GPUs, or NPUs when compatible. While it currently supports Intel and Qualcomm's NPUs on Windows PCs, AMD support is expected in future updates. Geekbench AI is available for various platforms including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS/iPadOS, and Android, with both free and Pro versions. The developers anticipate frequent updates to keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
