Former Apple designer Jonathan Ive has confirmed that he is collaborating with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. In a profile published in The New York Times last weekend, Ive revealed that his company LoveFrom is leading the design of an AI product being developed with Altman. Tang Tan and Evans Hankey, who held significant design roles at Apple, are also involved in this project. Currently, about 10 employees are working on this project in a San Francisco office building, which is one of several properties Ive has purchased. However, specific details about the product they are developing have not yet been disclosed. According to reports, papers and cardboard boxes containing initial ideas were seen being moved between LoveFrom properties. Since leaving Apple in 2019 to start LoveFrom, Ive has worked on various projects including typefaces and a red clown nose, but the only hardware product revealed so far is a $60,000 turntable. The release date for the AI product is currently undetermined.
