Intel has begun a massive layoff of over 2,000 employees across three U.S. states as part of its cost-cutting measures. This is part of the plan announced by CEO Pat Gelsinger in August to reduce the workforce by more than 15,000 employees. Approximately 1,300 employees in Oregon, 385 in Arizona, and 319 in California are targeted for layoffs. An additional 251 layoffs are planned in Austin, Texas. An Intel spokesperson stated that this decision is part of measures to cut costs by more than $10 billion. The layoffs are set to begin on November 15, with employees receiving either a 60-day notice or a 4-week notice along with 9 weeks of pay and benefits. Along with these layoffs, Intel is undergoing restructuring, including delaying the opening of new facilities outside the U.S., spinning off its contract chip manufacturing business into an independent subsidiary, and strengthening its x86 strategy. Meanwhile, Intel has appointed Dave Guzzi as the new global channel chief to bolster its channel business and plans to introduce a new regional engagement model by 2025.

Social media platform X has announced changes to its privacy policy that will allow it to provide user data to third parties for AI model training purposes. The policy, set to take effect on November 15, 2024, is expected to pave the way for external companies to purchase X's data in the form of licenses. The new policy introduces a "third-party collaborators" section, but the specific methods for users to opt out of data sharing remain unclear. This move is seen as a potential new revenue stream for X, which has experienced a decline in advertising revenue. Meanwhile, X has also strengthened penalties for 'scraping', the unauthorized collection of large numbers of tweets. The company has decided to impose a fine of $15,000 for accessing more than one million posts per day. X's owner, Elon Musk, has maintained a tough stance on scraping, and this policy change appears to reflect his attitude.
