Prada and Axiom Space have revealed a new spacesuit for NASA's Artemis III lunar exploration mission. This is for the first crewed moon exploration since Apollo 17 in 1972. Showcased at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, this spacesuit boasts a more sophisticated design than existing spacesuits, featuring a white base with red and gray accents. The new spacesuit has improved flexibility and is designed to withstand 8 hours of spacewalks and 2 hours of extreme temperatures at the lunar south pole. Prada's design team collaborated with Axiom Space engineers to develop customized materials and features suitable for the lunar environment. The spacesuit is currently in its final stages and has completed testing at Axiom Space, SpaceX, and NASA facilities. After a final review in 2025, it is scheduled to be used for the Artemis III mission, which has been postponed to September 2026. This spacesuit development is part of the mission NASA assigned to Axiom in 2022 and is expected to be a new milestone for future space exploration.
