조만간 윤석열 대통령은 우주항공청 설립에 이은 우주청장 임명을 놓고도 고민하게 될 것이다. 우리나라는 우주항공청 입지를 놓고서도 대전과 사천을 놓고 논란을 빚고 있는 상황이다. 국민들은 어떤 우주항공청장을 보게 될까. 초기 임명 때의 회의적 시각을 딛고 달라진 평가를 받는 빌 넬슨 미항공우주국(NASA·나사) 국장의 사례를 일반화하기는 어렵다. 다만 우주기관 수장이 어떤 사람이어야 하는가를 말해 주기엔 충분해 보인다.

Artemis I mission is still set to launch this week. The rocket and Orion spacecraft suffered only "very minor damage" from Hurricane Nicole. Some material came loose from the Orion spacecraft and could pose an issue to launch. The aim of the mission is to launch the spacecraft on an uncrewed mission around the Moon.

NASA's Psyche mission has been rescheduled for October 2020. The agency missed its launch window for the mission in October, but a review determined it can go ahead next year. The Psyche spacecraft will use Martian gravity to propel it toward an asteroid called Psyche.

NASA intentionally crashed its Double Asteroid Redirection Test spacecraft into an asteroid. The collision created a plume of dust and debris that astronomers call ejecta. Follow-up observations show the dust is being pushed away from the asteroid by the solar wind. The tail is at least 10,000 kilometers (6,000 miles) long.

NASA and SpaceX will study ways to use SpaceX's Dragon capsule to boost the Hubble Space Telescope's orbit. The six-month study will examine ways to dock with and raise the telescope's orbit, which would extend its useful life. The Hubble Space telescope has been a workhorse cosmic observatory for astronomers since its launch in 1990.

NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft briefly "tagged" 101955 Bennu two years ago. The agency revealed new information about the asteroid in an update this week. The spacecraft would have sunk into the asteroid had it not immediately fired its thrusters after touching the surface.

NASA has announced the formation of a study team dedicated to UFOs. The team will be led by astrophysicist David Spergel. The study will identify what UAP data already exists and develop methods to study the nature of UAPs for both scientific and aerospace defense reasons. NASA has already been up front about the fact that Uaps are likely not alien spacecraft.

미래의 화성 거주자들은 정말로 사이보그가 될까. 된다면 과연 어떤 방식으로 인간의 사이보그화가 진행될까. 인간들은 화성에 살기위해 신체의 연한 장기를 보호하고 미세 중력의 영향으로부터 더 탄력적으로 대응해야 하고, 이를위해 몸에 여러 가지를 이식하거나 몸에 통합시킬 수도 있을 것이다. 이를 하나하나 짚어본다.
