Cryptocurrency exchange Binance's NFT marketplace is ending support for polygons to streamline its product offering. Starting September 26, users will not be able to buy, deposit, offer, or list Polygon NFTs on the marketplace. This may impact the ability to offer new services or adjust existing services within the Binance NFT ecosystem. Binance said users will have until December 31, 2024 to withdraw their NFTs from the Binance NFT Marketplace via the Polygon network. After the removal of Polygon, Binance NFTs will support three blockchains, including BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

According to Reuters, the massive layoffs come as Binance and other crypto firms are under increasing pressure from regulators. However, Binance founder and CEO Zhao Changpeng took to Twitter to dispute the layoff numbers, "In our ongoing efforts to increase our talent density, we are experiencing involuntary layoffs. This is something that happens in any normal company. The numbers reported in the media are not true."

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said it filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, alleging it acted as an unregistered broker. The move comes a day after the agency sued Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, and its founder, CEO Changpeng Zhao. In its complaint, the SEC said Coinbase has made billions of dollars from handling cryptocurrencies since at least 2019, but violated securities laws by avoiding disclosure obligations to protect investors.

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will launch a cryptocurrency trading platform in Japan that is fully compliant with local regulations. According to the company, the new platform will launch this summer, with an official launch date and more details to be revealed in the coming months. Additionally, as part of the transition to Binance Japan, Binance will discontinue cryptocurrency services for Japanese residents through its global platform by November 30, 2023. Users of the global platform will be able to migrate to the new platform after August 1, 2023, but will have to go through a new know-your-customer (KYC) process.

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, is reportedly under investigation for allegedly being a conduit for Russian sanctions evasion. The investigation led to the suspension of Bitcoin withdrawals on Binance for over an hour at one point. This morning, Binance announced on Twitter that it was temporarily suspending Bitcoin withdrawals due to network congestion. Withdrawals resumed within two hours of the announcement.
